Marek leads our Regeneration, Place and Social Housing Executive Search Practice nationally. His focus is on Regeneration, Economic Development and Infrastructure appointments in Local Government and its associated agencies. His remit also includes the commercialisation agenda. He has advised a number of Local Authority Trading Companies and Teckal Companies at the public/private interface where commercial experience is required by public bodies. Marek is supported by his PA Ellie Barrett.

He has over 12 years’ experience of regeneration executive recruitment and was previously the Director of Regeneration and Environment for a national Executive Search and Selection firm. He recruited to some of the most high profile regeneration roles in the UK and worked with major cities, regions and devolved governments, all of the Regional Development Agencies, and many local delivery vehicles. He appointed the boards and senior management teams of 23 out of the 25 Urban Regeneration Companies.

In 2011 he joined Marketing Birmingham, Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP’s Development Agency, as Head of Strategic Projects. He worked extensively on the Region’s City Deal and Enterprise Zone projects, and led the successful delivery of some of the region’s largest Foreign Direct Investment projects, working with Deutsche Bank, Liberty Global and Extra Energy.

I am passionate about the role of place making and how when done right, it can transform, build and sustain communities. I’m very conscious that we play a role for a short time, but it can have impact on the long-term future of the places and the communities served by our clients. It’s why I always want to ensure we do our best, to attract exceptional and diverse talent from a range of sectors, across the UK and beyond.

A Geography Graduate, Marek is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Economic Development. He is fascinated by places and how they work or don’t work for the people that live there, and loves that his job enables him to spend time getting to understand such a variety of towns, cities, and regions.
