About the Role

The Communications Manager is responsible for delivering our internal and external communications, driving engaging and clear communication that connects people with our organisation’s vision and values, strengthens our voice and supports our organisational strategic aims. They support the Head of Team in developing and delivering our Communications Strategy, have hands on involvement in our communications work and lead a small committed team. 

The role requires a highly collaborative approach, working across the organisation to ensure a joined-up approach. 

Key Responsibilities include

  •  Support the Head of Leadership Office & Governance in the implementation and continuous development of the OIA’s communications strategy.
  • Lead the development and delivery of effective communications activities across the team’s core functions, prioritising areas and approaches which will have the greatest impact.
  •  Effective line management of team members, motivating them to deliver timely, engaging and impactful communications, and developing their skills to excel in their roles.
  • Lead and coach on complex and sensitive communication activities.

About You

  •  Proven experience in developing and implementing high quality communications strategies.
  •  Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  •  Versatile writer, able to write for different audiences and different formats.
  • Able to inspire, motivate, lead and manage others.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, including the importance of accessible communications.
  • Collaborative team player whilst joining up across the organisation.
