Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) is one of the largest NHS teaching hospital trusts in the UK, with a national and international reputation for the excellence of its services and its role in education and research. Our Trust consists of four hospitals – the Churchill Hospital, the John Radcliffe Hospital (which also includes the Children’s Hospital, Eye Hospital, Heart Centre, West Wing and Women’s Centre) and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, all located in Oxford, and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury. Our turnover in 2024/25 was over £1.5bn and we employ approximately 16,130 staff.
Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We focus on the values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality of healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family.
The OpportunityWith three board members coming to the end of their terms, we are seeking to appoint new Non-Executive Directors to join the Trust. The Non-Executive Director role plays a vital part in bringing an independent perspective to the unitary Board. Working alongside other Board Members, Non-Executive Directors have a duty to uphold the highest standards of integrity and probity, and to foster good relations in the Board, in the wider organisation, and with the Trust’s partners.
There has never been a more important or indeed more compelling time to join our Board. We care passionately about the delivery of world-class patient care, enabling a culture that supports innovation, cutting-edge research and education and you, as a Non-Executive Director, will be pivotal in enabling us to achieve just that. We are particularly seeking to appoint individuals that bring clinical, digital, HR and organisational development experience gained in large and complex organisations.
We are looking for high calibre individuals to join our Board and we are encouraging of applications from all sections of the community regardless of race, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or age.
