About Us

King's College Hospital Charity supports life-changing care at one of the largest NHS hospitals in London, King’s College Hospital in Denmark Hill. Handling around 97,000 admissions, 43,000 theatre cases, and 8,000 births annually, the hospital serves a large, diverse, community with significant demographic, economic & health challenges. In addition to Denmark Hill, the Trust operates four additional sites across south-east London, including the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and Orpington Hospital in Bromley.

King’s patients are at the heart of everything the Charity does. King's is a catalyst for innovation, supporting advances in world-class services, such as liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, foetal medicine, diabetes, and sickle cell care. The charity generates voluntary income and provides grants for ‘above and beyond’ NHS-funded services, improving patient care and experience through state-of-the art  equipment, research, pioneering treatments, and improved hospital environments.

The Charity is a grant maker and active fundraiser with a team of 26.5 FTE staff based near King’s Denmark Hill site. The organisation manages approximately 250 charitable funds for various hospital wards and specialties. In 2023/24, King's reported £4.7 million in income and £23 million in net assets.

We are seeking an inspirational and dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to shape the future of King’s College Hospital Charity. As CEO, you’ll champion our vision, expand our support across three major hospitals in South-East London and the wider community, and raise our profile nationally. You’ll inspire a high-performing team, work closely with the Board, and build meaningful partnerships to advance healthcare and our impact for the communities we serve.

About You
  • Extensive leadership and management experience at a senior level, ideally within the charity and/or health sectors.
  • Proven track record in building and executing strategic plans that align with organisational objectives.
  • Experience in collaborating with a high performing Board and fostering cooperative working relationships across an organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage multiple stakeholders at local, regional, and national levels, showcasing exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive significant growth in income and/or impact.
  • Knowledge of governance and compliance in the charity or public sector.
  • Experience in providing leadership to or within an organisation that promotes a positive culture of excellence, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience in managing budgets and organisational resources.
  • Deep commitment to the charity’s mission and values, with a genuine passion for making a positive impact in the community.
