Our client is a successful, specialist retailer and one of the UK’s leading homeware omni-channel retailer. With a clear focus on delivering growth, they are now seeking an experienced individual to join the senior leadership playing an instrumental commercial role in developing and leading the buying and category strategy. This is a pivotal role which will bring creativity, pace and performance to their team and the wider business.
The Role
- Reporting directly to the board (Chief Commercial Officer), you will create and own the overall buying and category strategy. Lead and inspire your team in the UK, the Far East sourcing team and a number of external product designers.
- Drive the commercial performance of the business by ensuring the brand is competitively priced and has a winning tactical plan to beat the competition. Own the critical path for both the range and event product market sign off, reacting quickly to customer demand and trends.
- Build and nurture positive relationships with key stakeholders across the business. Influencing and collaborating on business initiatives to drive change and deliver positive outcomes.
The Person
- You will demonstrate a strong track record of operating at a senior buying level within a non-food retail organisation.
- Proven experience in developing and articulating a strategic buying plan for the team as well as translating it into an executable operational roadmap. Experience of sourcing internationally and particularly the Far East.
- Demonstrate operational excellence of championing, leading and supporting change in a dynamic environment whilst inspiring energy and performance from the team.
