Head of Trading/Merchandising (Non-food/retail) - Location: North West - Excellent salary plus benefits package

Our client is a successful, specialist retailer and one of the UK’s leading homeware omni-channel retailer. With a clear focus on delivering growth, they are now seeking an experienced individual to join the senior leadership playing an instrumental commercial role in developing and leading the trading team. This is a pivotal role which will bring creativity, pace and performance to their team and the wider business.

The Role
  • Reporting directly to the board and Chief Commercial Officer, you will have accountability for the delivery of the organisation’s sales and margin targets whilst working closely with the wider senior leadership team. You will lead the merchandising team and work closely with the Head of Buying in setting and delivering the buying and category strategy.
  • Own the trading calendar of events and activity. Drive the commercial performance of the business by leading the weekly trading meetings. Working closely with the senior leaders, you will manage the P&L budget.
  • Lead the merchandising team in working with the buyers to deliver the relevant product strategy to ensure commercial point of difference.
The Person
  • You will demonstrate a track record of operating in a senior trading/merchandising role gained within a non-food retail organisation.
  • Proven experience in developing and articulating a strategic plan for the team and leading the team to deliver against the plan.
  • Strong experience in owning and delivering a sales and margin budget as well as the wider P&L.
