Protecting Health, Improving Lives
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is the UK’s sovereign regulator for medicines, including biological medicines, medical devices, and blood products. We are an executive agency responsible to the Department of Health and Social Care, working to improve and protect the health of millions of people every day by making sure healthcare products in the UK meet the highest standards and are safe to use.
With a new Chief Executive and Chair in place, we are focusing on a progressive and ambitious agenda. Our vision is to be a vital part of the UK health system and global health architecture demonstrating our excellence, embracing innovation and supporting growth to keep patients and the public safe. We are committed to playing our part in delivering healthcare regulation and influencing healthcare policy not just in the UK but around the world.
We are seeking to appoint to a new role of Chief Medical and Scientific Officer who will represent the MHRA to medical and scientific communities externally. The successful candidate will be a prominent voice for the MHRA, working to promote the value of effective regulation and support the growth of the life sciences industry in the UK. As a Doctor of Medicine by background, the postholder will drive scientific excellence, lead our Science and Innovation group and shape the future of regulation through our science strategy. This role is critical to our organisation and is essential to the future of health and life sciences in the UK. We are seeking a dynamic, inclusive, and visionary leader who shares our ambition to make a tangible, positive difference to people’s lives on a global scale.
