Head of Technology, FMCG, Essex-Based, Competitive Salary + Bonus + Benefits

An internationally recognised British brand, with a heritage spanning over a century, is embarking on a significant phase of digital transformation.

As part of this journey, the organisation is seeking to appoint a Head of Technology to lead the development and execution of its enterprise-wide technology strategy.

This is a newly created, business-critical role, is part of the Senior Leadership Team, collaborating with other business function heads to deliver its strategic objectives.

It reports to the Chief Financial Officer and works closely with the Executive Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping and delivering a comprehensive technology roadmap that underpins the company’s growth ambitions, operational resilience, and digital maturity.

 

The Role

The Head of Technology will provide strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of IT and digital enablement.

This includes:

  • Designing and implementing a scalable, secure, and future-ready technology architecture
  • Leading the delivery of ERP, smart factory, and data analytics initiatives
  • Establishing governance frameworks and delivery disciplines to ensure measurable ROI
  • Driving innovation through the adoption of AI, automation, and advanced analytics
  • Building a high-performing technology function and fostering a digital-first culture.

The Candidate

We are seeking a commercially astute & transformation-focused technology leader with:

  • Senior IT leadership experience in manufacturing or FMCG environments
  • A track record of delivering complex technology programmes, including ERP, Smart Factory and Warehouse Management Systems
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity, scalable infrastructure, and data strategy
  • Experience deploying emerging technologies such as AI, RPA, and IoT
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to translate technology into business value
  • A collaborative leadership style and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Location & Remuneration

The role is based in the company's head office in Essex, with some travel to local production sites.
