About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Director to lead our national Build to Rent (BTR) and Private Rented Sector (PRS) offer within the Place Living Sector team. This is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for growing our consultancy and transactional services across the UK.

You will work closely with landowners, developers, investors, and operators to deliver strategic advice, manage transactions, and build long-term client relationships. The role will also involve shaping and delivering a three- and five-year growth plan, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and representing Avison Young at industry events.

Key Responsibilities

As the national lead for BTR/PRS, you will oversee the full transaction lifecycle, from inception to completion, including buy- and sell-side advisory. You will undertake market appraisals, provide strategic advice on funding and delivery structures, and ensure the highest standards of client service.

You will also be responsible for business development, leading pitches, and securing new instructions. Internally, you will collaborate with colleagues across planning, land, development, advisory, and investment teams to deliver integrated solutions. Externally, you will maintain a strong public profile and stay abreast of market trends and policy developments.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader with a strong advisory track record in the BTR/PRS markets with a focus on transaction delivery. You will be MRICS qualified (or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience, and possess a deep understanding of the BTR and PRS sectors, deal structuring and delivery.

You will be articulate, confident, proficient in viability and market appraisals of development and operational assets, with excellent relationship building and leadership skills. You will have a collaborative mindset, a passion for delivering high standards, and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues alike. Experience working across complex, multidisciplinary projects and a strong network within the residential investment sector are essential.
