Avison Young is a global real estate advisory firm with a difference. Founded in Canada in 1978, we now operate in over 120 locations across 20 countries. Our 5,000+ professionals are united by a shared purpose: to create real estate solutions that deliver long-lasting social value and economic impact. We are collaborative, forward-thinking, and committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture where everyone can thrive. If you’re looking to join a business that values curiosity, innovation, and strategic intelligence, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Director to lead and grow a new national Building Surveying service line within our Affordable Housing team. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new ‘challenger brand’ offering high-quality surveying services to housing associations, local authorities, and for-profit registered providers.

You will be responsible for delivering stock condition surveys, EPCs, compliance audits, and strategic asset investment advice. The role also involves building a high-performing team, developing a five-year business plan, and collaborating across Avison Young’s national network.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead the delivery of building surveying services tailored to the affordable housing sector, including survey design, data analysis, and long-term investment planning. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, providing strategic advice on compliance, decarbonisation, and asset management.

You will also be responsible for business development, client relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external consultants. This is a leadership role with national visibility and the opportunity to shape a new service line from the ground up.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic leader with a Building Surveying degree or equivalent and significant post-qualification experience. You will have a strong track record in delivering building surveying and compliance services to social landlords, with deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks including Building Safety, HHSRS, Awaab’s Law, and Decent Homes.

You will be commercially minded, with experience in P&L responsibility, team leadership, and client development. Strong communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills are essential, along with a collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset.

Interested candidates should submit their CV and a cover letter outlining their suitability for the role.
