Nottingham City Council seek a new Strategic Director of Housing to lead their housing service, including proactive homelessness prevention and the day-to-day delivery of tenancy and maintenance services to 25,000 Council owned properties/leaseholders. The Strategic Director will lead the Housing Improvement Programme across people, culture, processes and systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and high quality service delivery. This is a career-defining role for a leader within the housing sector, to enact positive change and transformation in an organisation determined to provide an exceptional level of service to its community.
Responsibilities include:
- Shaping the vision for the Housing Division and championing the Council’s values.
- Managing housing strategy, policy, compliance, and homelessness solutions.
- Driving the Housing Improvement Programme and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Developing housing and regeneration strategies and partnerships.
- Supporting the Private Rented Sector and stewarding the Housing Revenue Account (HRA).
- Overseeing tenancy and maintenance for 25,000 council properties.
- Leading the Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) with 1,000 employees.
Person Specification:
- Senior leadership experience in a large, complex organisation.
- Proven track record of creating and delivering strategic visions.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen.
- Successful leadership and motivation of high-performing teams.
- Strategic understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Experience in housing delivery, strategy, and policy development.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, with a professional qualification in Housing or a related area.
