The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET hereafter) is Europe’s largest professional body for engineers with over 150,000 members around the globe. We register members for Chartership, and promote professionalism and learning through events, courses, networking and publications.

With a high level of change in our sector, and society increasingly looking towards engineering and technology for solutions to issues such as climate change, IET has been undertaking a transformation aimed at ensuring the organisation is fit for the future, financially robust, and able to grow its impact. With the support of our Trustees we have changed our operating model to focus more effectively on our members and customers, committed to product development, and begun the journey to revitalise our systems and processes. This therefore represents an exciting time to join the highly motivated Executive team at the IET and contribute to ensuring the organisation is on a growth trajectory and ‘best in class’.

• A depth and breadth of financial leadership experience and a professional accountancy qualification (Chartered is desirable, but not essential).
•  A high EQ approach to people leadership, ideally formed by leading across multiple functions.
• Experience of working in a commercial business (technology industry would be desirable) as well as an understanding/affinity for the membership / charity sector.
•  A commercial mindset.
• A history of delivering process excellence through transformation.
• A Digital focus – having driven a digitalisation agenda in its broadest sense, and able to demonstrate how technology can enhance all aspects of the organisation.
• Significant Board level experience, preferably as CFO or Group Finance Director.
