About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Policy (Real Estate) to join our team. This pivotal role involves shaping and influencing policy to support the real estate sector, ensuring it remains a key contributor to the economy and society. The Director of Policy (Real Estate) is one of two Director of Policy positions at the BPF, with the Director of Policy (Finance). The Directors each have responsibility for specific areas of policy, as well as joint responsibility for the BPF’s policy team output overall.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a member of the BPF’s senior leadership team leading the overall strategy and operations of the BPF
  • Lead and manage the BPF’s policy team, ensuring clear objectives and high performance.
  • Develop and support impactful campaigns to influence government policy.
  • Represent the BPF to members, media, and stakeholders, including civil servants and parliamentarians.
  • Monitor, research, and promote real estate-related issues, anticipating events where possible.
  • Develop professional networks and maintain positive relationships with external organisations and a productive relationship with relevant government departments
  • Organise and deliver events to promote understanding of policy issues and the BPF’s work.
  • Represent the BPF externally when required. This may include media engagements, conferences, and parliamentary committees.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in managing a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of UK political and parliamentary processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence through campaigns and collaborative engagement with the Government.
  • Experience in representing policy positions to media and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the industry.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience of property-related policy issues.
