Commercial Director – HWM Global (a Halma business), UK (Flexible location), Highly competitive £six-figure base plus excellent exec package

HWM Global specialises in advanced monitoring solutions for the water industry, specifically data logging, leak detection and pressure management solutions, and sewer level and event monitoring. The business is part of Halma plc, a leading FTSE 100 listed company on the London Stock Exchange with revenues of £2.3bn.

  • Incorporating three brands – HWM Global, FCS, and ASL – and with over 60 years of heritage, having designed the first leak correlator in 1979, the business has built a reputation for technological excellence, innovation and outstanding customer service.
  • Over the past two years, HWM Global has experienced significant growth, driven strategic diversification and expansion into new geographical markets. This has resulted in a group turnover approaching £60 million.

The Role

The Commercial Director is responsible for developing and implementing the company's commercial strategy to drive global business growth and market share.

Key priorities will include:

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement commercial strategies, conduct market research, and create business plans to accelerate growth.
  • Sales Leadership and Operations: Oversee daily sales operations, set and monitor sales targets, and improve processes to enhance performance.
  • Customer Experience Management: Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention, build strong client relationships, and manage customer service operations.
  • Product Development and Management: Align product offerings with market needs, manage product lifecycle, and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Team Development and Leadership: Build and lead high-performing teams, promote a collaborative and inclusive environment, and address skill gaps through training and development.

The Candidate

This is an excellent role for a proven Commercial / Sales / Business Development Director looking to join an ambitious business, requiring a transformational leader. It will suit an ambitious water industry professional looking to broaden their experience in general management or an experienced commercial professional looking for a new challenge.

Experience:

  • Commercial Leadership in Utilities: Significant experience leading a commercial function delivering technical products and services into the Utilities sectors (water, power transmission, telecoms etc) OR significant experience working for a Utilities business in a senior commercial leadership role (ideally water).
  • Business Growth Success: Proven track record delivering significant business growth with experience selling direct to end user AND through distributor networks.

  • Leadership and Management: Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Strategic and Analytical Abilities: Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with a results-driven mindset and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Adaptability and Industry Knowledge: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, knowledge of diverse business functions, and understanding of IoT technologies.

Location and Package:

This is a hybrid-based role with global travel expected. Therefore, you can be based anywhere in the UK/Western Europe as long as you can easily travel to the UK HQ as well as to meet global teams and customers.

The package on offer is highly competitive and designed to attract the very best candidate possible. You will receive an excellent £six-figure base salary plus car allowance and standard Halma benefits (pension, healthcare, life assurance). As a Board member, you will also be eligible for the Halma Senior Executive Bonus Plan and Share Plan.
