About the role:

The Managing Director (MD) will play a pivotal role in leading WRWA through an exciting period of transformation. This role involves setting the strategic direction, driving the vision, and ensuring that WRWA's operations align with its commitment to sustainability. The MD will oversee major capital investment programmes, manage budgets, and develop new income streams. They will also be responsible for contract management, stakeholder engagement, and fostering a positive organisational culture with a strong emphasis on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I). The MD will lead initiatives in waste prevention, recycling, and the circular economy, ensuring that WRWA remains at the cutting edge of environmental stewardship.

About the Person:

The ideal candidate will have extensive managerial experience, preferably within waste management or related sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, or environmental services. They will possess a strong track record in capital investment, commercial acumen, and sustainability. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a commitment to fostering a positive organisational culture and promoting ED&I. Desirable qualifications include a degree in an engineering or science-based discipline and professional membership in relevant institutes. The candidate should be passionate about driving change and inspiring innovation within the organisation.
