Divisional Operations Director – Nuclear & Infrastructure, Severfield plc, Lostock, Bolton / North of England / Midlands, £Attractive salary and benefits

  • With an annual turnover close to £500m (2023), Severfield has a prominent position in sectors with strong growth potential, including those in support of a low-carbon economy, supplying products to new nuclear power stations, battery plants, wind farms, low carbon transport, and waste-to-energy plants.
Role
  • The Divisional Operations Director role is a newly created leadership position within Severfield Nuclear and Infrastructure Ltd. The main sectors the division covers are Nuclear (new build, decommissioning and defence), Power and Energy, Transport (road and rail) and Process Industries markets, with a combined turnover of over £100m. Key customers within the Nuclear sector include Sellafield, AWE, and Hinkley Point.
  • The Nuclear & Infrastructure Division has a clear strategy to grow over the next 3 to 5 years, and the Divisional Operations Director role is a key position to support the systematic strategy to deliver this growth.
  • The main purpose of the role is to set the operational strategy for the Nuclear & Infrastructure Division, directing and driving the operational teams to operational excellence, and ensure that all technical, commercial, and contractual aspects of the SN&I Division projects are properly managed to deliver against defined revenue, profit, and delivery programmes.
Person
  • This position is a high-profile leadership role, requiring a combination of gravitas and commercial acumen, with the ability to articulate the vision and set high standards of performance. Educated to degree level, in a relevant engineering discipline, and ideally with a Chartered status, you will have a demonstrable record of delivering large complex projects to demanding programmes, and to budget.
  • You will have first-hand experience of delivering commercial contractual projects into the Nuclear, Power and Infrastructure sectors – with a complete understanding of nuclear safety. As such, you will be an advocate of best-in-class health and safety standards and performance, with knowledge and experience of NEC form of contract.
  • A hands-on leader, you will be someone who empowers your teams, and who is equally adept at being strategic as you are at getting into the day-to-day details of the delivery of programmes.  Severfield are interested in candidates with experience from heavy engineering & manufacturing, consulting engineering, main contractor, and related organisations with an expertise in delivering complex projects within the nuclear and infrastructure sectors.
