Location: Glenrothes, Fife
Fife Council is seeking an exceptional leader to shape the future of environmental and building services across one of Scotland’s most vibrant regions. As Head of Service, you’ll oversee Building Services, Waste Operations, Street Cleansing, Greenspace, and Fleet Services—delivering high-quality, sustainable services to 375,000 residents.
This is a pivotal role within the Place Directorate, ideal for a strategic thinker with senior leadership experience, political acumen, and a passion for community-focused innovation. You’ll lead a diverse team, manage a £160m budget, and drive transformation aligned with Fife’s climate and sustainability goals.
We’re looking for someone with a proven track record in change management, stakeholder engagement, and service excellence.
The Person
- Experience or knowledge of strategic leadership and management within a complex and large scale purpose driven organisation
- Proven track record in managing large, complex front-line services with budget
- Knowledge of the construction industry and other managed services such as:
- Fleet provision
- Grounds maintenance
- Domestic waste
- Street cleansing
