About the Role of Chief Executive of RINA

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead RINA into its next phase of growth and innovation. The CEO will report directly to the Board of Trustees via the Chair and will be accountable for overseeing all aspects of the Institution's wide-ranging activities in support of its global membership. This role ensures the Institution operates in accordance with its Royal Charter and charitable status, while also maintaining profitability in line with financial goals set by the Board.

As the Chief Executive of RINA, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing the strategic plan to achieve RINA's mission and goals.
  • Providing visionary leadership to the organisation, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing and advancing the financial management of the organisation, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and ensuring the profitability of initiatives.
  • Managing the Senior Leadership Team and ensuring the delivery of high quality services to members and support to the volunteer led committees.
  • Leading the digital transformation of RINA, ensuring the successful implementation of IT projects and the improvement of digital platforms.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including members, corporate sponsors, industry partners, and international divisions.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, maintaining high standards of governance and ethical conduct.
  • Engage with and report to the Board of Trustees to ensure strategic alignment and effective governance.

To qualify for the position of Chief Executive of RINA, you must have experience of:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within a membership organisation or professional society.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading digital transformation projects and managing digital platforms.
  • A background in naval architecture or maritime engineering is desirable, along with an understanding of the dynamics of the maritime industry.
  • International work experience and the flexibility to travel.
