About the Devonshire Group

The Devonshire Group encompasses a significant number of businesses throughout the UK and Ireland, employing over 1,300 people and 170 volunteers. Our locations include the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire, the Bolton Abbey Estate in North Yorkshire, the Lismore Estate in County Waterford, and the Compton Estate in Sussex. The Group also has some charitable interests.

Our commercial activities include heritage attractions, retail outlets, catering, events, restaurants and luxury accommodation, a significant let estate comprising residential, agricultural and commercial assets; in-hand farming and forestry operations, as well as notable property development and property investment projects nationwide. Our estates also include significant let mineral operations and we are hosts for a number of renewable energy projects including biomass and solar PV.

Chatsworth, located within the Peak District National Park, is home to the Devonshire family. It comprises a Grade I listed house and stables, a 105-acre garden, a 1,822-acre park, a farmyard with an adventure playground, and one of Europe’s most significant private art collections. Chatsworth is also a registered charity. The Chatsworth House Trust was established in 1981 to look after the house, collections, garden, woodlands, and park for the benefit of everyone. Every penny of visitor admission income goes directly to the Trust.

The Role

The Head of Digital Transformation & IT is the digital leader for Devonshire Group, responsible for developing and implementing a digital strategy that will improve both our colleague and customer technology experience and our organisational efficiency.  The Head of Digital Transformation & IT will be responsible for:

• Digital Leadership
• Being accountable for supporting the organisation’s use of IT
• Managing Digital and IT Risk
• Leadership and Management of the IT team

The Candidate

• Will be outgoing, customer-centred and people focused. You should be a collaborative, proactive relationship builder with the proven ability to influence and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Will have devised and delivered a business-aligned digital strategy and also have led mission- critical programmes of digital/technology modernisation to improve customer experience and encourage closer working, preferably in a complex, siloed B2C setting.
• Will be an enthusing, motivating people leader. You should have significant transformational IT& Digital leadership experience including realising business value from digital and delivering technology enabled business change and modernisation programmes.  
• The role will be based at the Estate Office, Edensor, Chatsworth, in the Derbyshire Peak District.
