Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity

Location: Bloomsbury, London, South East England (Hybrid working)

Salary: Up to £115,000, plus pension

This is a unique opportunity for a collaborative, change-focused, and strategic IT leader to join our rapidly growing successful children’s charity at a key point in our evolution. As GOSH Charity moves towards the conclusion of our 2020-25 strategy, we are commencing a period of strategic planning. We are seeking to harness the power of digital to optimise the way we run the organisation and how we engage with our patients, families, donors and colleagues. As a newly created strategic role, the CTO post represents a chance to influence right across the Charity. We want to ensure we embrace the opportunities of technology in our upcoming, organisation-wide transformation. We want our new CTO to devise and deliver an IT strategy which will drive an optimised, efficient, and customer-focused technology experience for the Charity and its partners.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity) stops at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. GOSH has been transforming the lives of seriously ill children since opening its doors in 1852 and has always depended on charitable support. With an annual turnover which has grown to over £130m, the charity funds groundbreaking research into children’s health, cutting-edge medical equipment, child-centred medical facilities and the support services children and families going through the toughest journey of their lives urgently need.

The Role

  • Engage widely, to build collaborative relationships right across the Charity’s complex stakeholder landscape. Develop an understanding of our aims and use your knowledge of best practice in contemporary IT to articulate the ‘art of the possible’ and create an ambitious, transformative, yet deliverable IT strategy.
  • Shift the perception of IT from a functional utility to a valued strategic partner. Ensure IT is seen as an enabling function able to bring the latest thinking to bear and which is critical to the Charity’s successful growth.
  • Inspire our technology function, mould an engaged, enthused team which is aligned with the needs of the Charity, and able to embrace the latest in IT industry approaches.

The Candidate

  • Will be collaborative, customer-centred and relationship focused. You should be proactive and ambitious with the proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Will have devised and delivered business-aligned, forward looking IT strategies and led programmes of digital/technology change to improve user experience, technology integration and optimisation.
  • Will be an enthusing, inspiring people leader. You should have significant, transformational IT leadership experience including introducing business partnering and driving the delivery of significant, technology-enabled business process change.
