'Can the Energy Sector claim it has innovated?' - Energy Leadership Event

Berwick Partners’ Energy leadership practice recently held a round table lunch event in London for leaders within the UK Energy sector.

A diverse group encompassing commercial, operational and people leaders from operators, retail energy organisations and DNOs contributed to what was a popular and opinionated debate.

We welcomed, for a second time, Lee Sankey as our guest speaker. Lee has worked with global brands such as Volvo, Barclays, Virgin Money, Skype, Yamaha, and Puma on diverse projects spanning strategy, brand, technology, product, digital, experience and service design. In 2015, he founded Door to help companies evolve in a new era of business.

The Energy sector has clearly gone through a period of significant change over the course of the last two years and the digital transformation that accompanies this change has been, and will continue to be, extremely crucial.

Lee gave us interesting insight into the financial services sector and the change it went though over a decade ago. This insight into the significant legislative and digital change undertaken by financial services gave the group a realistic view of where the energy sector is in comparison, and how much further they are yet to go.

Energy leaders of both the large domestic players and the wave of new challenger brands are increasingly working in new and innovative ways within their own organisations. The feedback and debate around the table helped the group to realise and discuss the current barriers they have within their own immediate teams and broader organisation.

The afternoon provided well rounded and lively debate that gave real insight across a number of perspectives. We would like to thank Lee and all our guests for joining us.
