Will Pringle – from Consultant to Partner
I joined Odgers Select in March 2008 to focus on recruiting into the professional service market. 2008 saw the market tank and it became clear, quickly, that I would need to look for work in other markets.
For the next couple of years, I focussed on the business service and business to business markets, recruiting predominantly commercially focussed roles. My interest, however, was not in these sectors and I became more and more disillusioned working for organisations that I frankly found dull.
Talking to my Managing Director, I was encouraged to look at another market that I would find more fulfilling and where I believed I could make more of a difference.
After being made Partner in 2011, I decided to reinvent myself in 2012 and look at a sector that I was interested in and passionate about. A consumer of all things cultural outside of work and a supporter of a number of charities, I decided to focus my energy in this world. I have not looked back.
Over the past few years I have built a successful practice focussing on the Charity, Arts, Cultural and Heritage sectors. We have established ourselves as one of the top firms recruiting senior executives into this world. We are hugely proud of the value we bring to our clients and the impact that the executive leaders we recruit bring to their organisations.
From a personal perspective, recruiting for leading cultural organisations such as The National Trust, The National Portrait Gallery, The Almeida, Opera North, Birmingham Royal Ballet and English Heritage, gives me great satisfaction, and I have been able to use my experience recruiting in the commercial world to bring talented professionals from that environment into my sector.
I am hugely grateful to the business for giving me the time and opportunity to achieve my potential, and for the support from a marketing, events and training perspective that I have been given, helping to hone my skills and to establish myself and my practice in the market.
